Here are a few reminders for your investment.
1.- Your oriental rug needs to be rotated every 6 months to
get even wear.
2.- Your rug needs to be made dirt and dust free every 18
months (in normal traffic), but in commercial places, every 12 months in order that the
natural wool can breath.
3.- You need to check the padding underneath your rug. The
proper pad will protect your rug in three different ways:
a. Prevents your rug from sliding.
b. Eliminates friction between the rug and a hard surface as well as
preventing dust and moths from living under the rug.
c. Keeps humidity from transferring from the floor to your rug.
4.- Check to see if you have an up to date appraisal on you
rug (s). If anything happens to your rug, insurance companies might need the appraisal
document.
5.- Sometimes a small repair can prevent further damage to
your rug. This can save you a lot of expense in the future.

6.- Upgrade or trade in your old rug.
Keep a small container handy with the following items: Clean
cloths, paper towels, a clothes brush, mild detergent (no bleaches or alkaline), white
vinegar, dry cleaning fluid, weak ammonia (7% solution), sponges, alcohol and glycerin.
How to clean stains:
1.- Work quickly.
2.- Blot up excess spills with paper towels.
3.- Apply antidote (s) as shown on list with a clean, dry cloth, working
from edge to center.
4.- Do not soak.
5.- Pat with paper towels. Dry with fan or hair blower.
6.- Restore pile with clothes brush.
Removing Wax:
Put a blotter or brown paper bag over the spot. Put a hot iron over the blotter.
Wait a few minutes until the wax is absorbed into the blotter. Repair if
necessary. Move the iron constantly and do not let it stay in one place.
Removing Ink:
Saturate the spot with hairspray. Allow it to dry. Brush lightly with a
solution of water and vinegar.
Removing Glue:
Saturate the spot with a cloth soaked in vinegar or alcohol.
Removing Chewing Gum:
Press ice cubes against spot. Wait until it becomes brittle and breaks off.
Use spot remover until last traces of the spot disappears.
